Community
WRG is committed to ongoing communication with the local community regarding its operations at Welbeck and has welcomed visitors to the site for many years. In fact, many schoolchildren have visited the site for educational visits and site tours have also been held for other local community groups.
Open day - Saturday 27 September 2008
A
successful open day took place at the Welbeck site with a steady stream
of visitors attending during the afternoon. Provided with the
opportunity to find out more about how the site is operated and how it
will be restored in the future, visitors also had the opportunity to
take a tour around the site.
Site management were on hand all
afternoon to answer questions and visitors were also able to chat with
representatives from Infinis Ltd, the renewable energy company that will
be operating the landfill gas electricity generation plant at Welbeck;
WREN, who help to fund community and environmental projects through the
Landfill Communities Scheme; and the Environment Agency, who regulate
the site. The falconer, who helps to control scavenging birds on the
landfill, was also on hand with several of his birds of prey on display.
Should any community groups have missed the opportunity to attend the open day, please contact the site management via the contact section on this website to request a visit.
