About Waste Recycling Group
Waste Recycling Group is one of the UK's leading waste management companies and handles in excess of 15 million tonnes of household, commercial and industrial waste each year.
Around 50% of Waste Recycling's business is accounted for by waste management contracts with around 70 local authorities across England, Scotland and Wales.
The Company operates facilities for the reception, recycling and disposal of waste, including a network of waste transfer and recycling centres and strategically-situated landfill sites, and is one of the largest operators of civic amenity sites on behalf of local authorities for use by the general public. In addition, Waste Recycling is providing energy-from-waste incineration services for local authorities who require a broader technological approach to their longer term waste strategies.
Energy Recovery
Recognising and recovering the potential value that is locked up in waste is an important part of achieving sustainability. Waste Recycling has developed facilities to capture energy from waste by safe and effective incineration processes, generating either steam for combined heat and power, or electricity for local grid networks.
We are also the leading generator of electricity from the burning of landfill gas, which is created naturally through the decomposition of organic waste in landfills. We generate more electricity in this way than any other landfill operator.

Compost
The compost produced finds a variety of end users; restoration of our own landfill sites, some is returned to our local authority partners, and, increasingly it is used for the manufacture of top quality soils and bagged compost for the retail sector.
Methods of composting; Windrow composting, Pod composting, In-vessel systems.
