Landfill is used as the last option
Even after increasing recycling, composting and energy recovery there will be some materials left for disposal.
Target 45+ aims to reduce landfil to the absolute minimum. But landfill will always have a role in sustainable waste management - even though it is small.
WRG operates the landfill at Gallymoor. Target 45+ will continue to use this facility for final disposal of materials left after recycling, composting and energy recovery.
