Further Information

A planning application for the Bentinck Tip and Void was submitted to Nottinghamshire County Council in October 2006.

WRG and its consultants have undertaken a wide range of assessments to support the planning application.  The full planning application, along with all the supporting documentation, can be viewed at the Nottinghamshire County Council offices.

However, the non-technical summary which provides an overview of the planning application and the Public Engagement Statement which summarises the public engagement process and the issues raised, along with WRG's response to those issues, has been attached.

Reference is made below to some additional sources of general information regarding Waste Managment.

Landfill and Health

In 2004 the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs published an independent review of the health and environmental impacts of waste management in the UK. The link below will take you to a summary of the report.

Enviros, an independent environmental consultancy, has also prepared a review of landfill and health issues for WRG, which can be downloaded (see list above).

WRG's Restoration Track Record

WRG is experienced in restoring land for nature conservation.  Moore Nature Reserve, in Cheshire, is a former quarry close to a landfill.   The Reserve is managed by WRG wardens.    The completed landfill will be restored to woodland and grassland and incorporated into the Reserve.   Click here for more information on the Reserve www.wrg.co.uk/moorenaturereserve
